You see yourself in your Kids!

I had to share this because I thought it was so adorable. As many of you know, my husband is in the Pest Control business, so he is on top of everything like treating and such around our house. Especially since we recently moved to Arizona, and the main concern here is scorpions. It seems like scorpions have been particularly bad this year, maybe they haven't, but when you are in the business of scorpions they may seem like they are, so my husbands has seen a lot of them since being here. Levi has a black light that he will take to customer's houses to look specifically for scorpions, and he uses it around our house as well.
Almost every night Levi is home in time to help put the kids to bed he will take his black light into the kids room and check every inch of their room for scorpions. It is actually really cute, and the kids think it is the coolest thing.
Well the other day we realized there were a few things that we needed around the house that we didn't have for emergency circumstances. One of those things was a big flashlight. We have a few smaller flashlights, but we wanted a bigger one that would cover more area. We went to the store and found a package of flashlights with a nice big flashlight, and two smaller flashlights that we thought the kids would have fun using.
This morning, a sunday, Levi and I were trying to get ready for church and the kids were making that difficult. We decided to get the flashlights out and let the kids play with them so we could get ready. While we were getting ready we kept the monitor on so we could hear the kids play. We heard Wylie say something about bugs so we both went to go see if there was a bug in her room. When we went into her room, the kids had the light off, and they were searching for bugs with their flashlights... Just like their Daddy! I couldn't believe it. It was the cutest thing. I asked Wylie what she was doing and she  said, "We're just checking for bugs Mom." And Easton followed up with "There's no bugs."
It was one of those moments however, when you realize your kids really do watch EVERYTHING you do, and they are going to do what you do. :-) It definitely makes you sit back for a second and think twice before you say or do anything. Little kids are so much more intelligent that I think people give them credit for. Especially the first few years of their life. The things they learn and retain within those first few years is amazing. You hope that as a parent you are doing the right things to help them progress.
I love my kids so much, and I love these special memories. I look forward to getting to share them with them some day when they are older, and their kids are imitating them. :-) For now... I guess I better always be self aware of what I am doing, the kids are always watching...
